P2P day 10
After riding over 800 miles in the last 10 days I think I deserve a reward of a great lunch. Looking over the Clark Fork river in Missoula with a day off tomorrow.
So far team Trek has been fantastic. These 4 work every single day from 6AM until after dinner. Riding a bike 100 miles is tough but imagine spending 8 hours to drive 100 miles in a car. Support trucks are stopped every 20 miles or so to refill bottles, serve lunch and reload on ride food. 2 of the guides ride each day with one hanging back with the slowest rider and the other riding in the middle of the pack or up front. If there’s a mechanical issue outside of what the riders can fix there’s always a guide or truck nearby. I broke a chain 2 miles from the truck on Tuesday so the next guide to come by gave me his bike and lowered the seat of mine and rode it like a kids strider bike to the truck and replaced the chain. The other 2 guides drive the trucks with food and all of our luggage which is waiting for us at the hotel. At the end of each day the guys haul luggage, take care of the upcoming days logistics and herd cats. Tara, the massage therapist and “Jackie of all trades” provides support all day, makes really good salads and gives at least 4 massages after the ride every day. If you want to be in a lot of pain but feel great the next day she’s your girl. These kids rock!!
And here’s the kids:

Hi Dad
ReplyDeleteGlad you are having fun. . . .
Enjoy your much deserved day off - hope you find what you need at CVS! Ask your guides if they know anything about Backroads - this is exactly the kind of treatment we receive every year from that organization on our fundraising bike ride tour and it always impresses me - I bet they love what they do.
ReplyDeleteAll four of them seem like they really enjoy it. A couple of the other guests have done trips with Backroads and say it’s just as good. One of them said Trek Travel started with an ex Backroads person.
